Dr Kiran Coelho has a long association with St Joseph’s Convent, Bandra and the Sisters of the Daughters of the Cross. Three generations of Dr Kiran’s family have studied at St Joseph’s, namely, her mother, herself and her daughter Nayantara. Dr Kiran is passionate about her work and, more importantly, is always willing to create time in her busy schedule to respond with an enthusiastic YES to any call from her Alma Mater.
We have invited her to be Chief Guest on more than occasion – School Annual Day, H Ward Schools Science Exhibition and our Sesquicentennial Celebrations. She has also been a vital part of our Ex-students Association programs.
Over the years, Dr Kiran has often spoken on Sex Education and Menstrual Hygiene to our students. She has educated our parents on Early Detection of Cancer and Sailing through Menopause. She also gave our staff the opportunity to attend a Symposium on Cancer and women related health issues.
She has operated on many of the sisters in the congregation, including myself. In my personal experience, I have found her to be warm, affectionate, thoroughly professional and a skillful surgeon. She has a great bedside manner which puts her patients at ease immediately. She takes a keen, personal interest in the overall health of her patients; often going beyond her area of expertise to ensure their well-being.
Dr Kiran’s love for the poor is manifested in her work for socially disadvantaged women at Holy Family Hospital. We at St. Joseph’s can always count on her help and support. Dr Kiran’s vivid personality draws people and her generous heart assures them of timely assistance. May God bless her always with good health to continue her mission to help women in need.
